The Green Office of the Open Universiteit (Go OU) has been working on the topic of Rights of Nature since November 2023. During this interactive workshop, Go OU will take the participants on a journey, presenting the different steps the members of the Green Office have taken since November 2023 to give more attention to the concept of Rights of Nature and get it incorporated more and better in the educational programme and research activities of the Open Universiteit.
After this, Go OU will present the next step they would like to take: to ‘onboard Nature’, i.e. to get Nature a seat on the Board of the Open Universiteit. We will ask the participants:
1) To brainstorm with us how to go about this – using the 'Onboarding Nature toolkit 2024’ developed by Nyenrode Business University, Earth Law Center and B-corp Benelux (see: https://www.onboardingnature.com/aboutus - the toolkit can be downloaded there) as a base – and
2) To also join us in thinking about ways to make this project even more ambitious: work together to 'onboard' Nature in all higher education institutes (with other Green Offices as our natural allies)!
