National XR Day 2025

Device Management and Content Sharing with the XRScaleKit
2025-07-02 , Theil C1-2 (60p)

Managing XR Devices at scale is difficult, especially with all the changes in providers over the last year. Moreover, none of the existing solutions are build around community and sharing content. With the XRScaleKit Library and Launcher the TU Delft aims to change that. In this presentation, we will share progress updates on the various tools in the XRScaleKit.

The XRScaleKit is a collection of projects and concepts that resulted in a toolkit for scalable XR development. At TU Delft, we are working hard to test and finetune these tools ahead of publishing them as Open Source Software. A key goal of the XRScaleKit is to make it easier to find, share and manage XR content at your institution.

In this presentation, you will get a quick overview of what the XRScaleKit is and what tools it contains, including progress updates since the last National XR Day and insight into the roadmap. Then, you will learn how the combination of the XRScaleKit Library and XRScaleKit Launcher work together to make it easy to get an overview of all XR content available at an institution.

The XRScaleKit Library contains features like:

  • A website to manage and display your XR content
  • A way to manage your XR devices
  • A way to manage XR device reservations and prepare them for lessons
  • A roadmap to share content using the SURF Content Exchange Platform (CXP)

The XRScaleKit Launcher contains features like:

  • A way to find and install content on your XR device
  • A way to start content remotely
  • Details and usage statistics of the XR device

Both feature:

  • Open Source Software
  • An extensive API to integrate these tools with other platforms

We will end the presentation with a live demo showcasing our currently available content and how to add new content to the XRScaleKit Library and share it with the community. To boost sharing content in our community, the TU Delft will share a large selection of our custom content as well.
