Is your PID strategy getting lost in fragmented systems, inconsistent metadata, and unclear responsibilities? If this sounds familiar, then see how the project PID Network Germany tackles these hurdles with its national PID roadmap. In this presentation, you will learn how structural, technical, and governance-related barriers can be systematically addressed.
You will gain insights into a nationwide survey of research and cultural institutions, thematic workshops, PID provider interviews, pilot implementations of metadata guidelines, and the development of a national PID Monitor. Together, these qualitative and quantitative approaches revealed key obstacles in interoperability, automation, metadata quality, and sustainable governance and served as the basis for developing the PID roadmap.
You will gain evidence-based insights into how community engagement, monitoring, and practical testing create a comprehensive picture of the national PID landscape. You will also learn about persisting challenges and concrete starting points for coordinated and sustainable national PID implementation.
