DESCRIPTION:Have you ever suggested an addition or update to ROR and wonder
ed how the proposed changes got turned into an actual ROR record? Or have
you wanted to suggest a change but weren’t sure how to proceed? If you
’ve ever been curious to learn more about how the ROR registry is mainta
ined\, this interactive workshop will take you inside the entire process a
nd give you a newfound appreciation for the humans\, machines\, and mechan
isms that make it all possible.

DESCRIPTION:Whether you produce\, maintain\, analyze\, or integrate DataCit
e DOI metadata\, you have probably experienced challenges with keeping it
up to date\, navigating gaps and inconsistencies in metadata properties an
d practices\, or curating metadata for specific applications. While DataCi
te DOIs enable connectivity and interoperability\, enhancing data quality
and efficiencies across systems and workflows\, the metadata associated wi
th them still requires ongoing maintenance that can only be performed by o
riginal creators or in isolated applications. \n\nA collaboration between
DataCite and COMET is advancing innovative technical and community-based a
pproaches to improving PID metadata for everyone and at scale\, currently
focused on DataCite DOIs but broadly applicable across the ecosystem.\n\nI
f you’ve ever wished for a better way to improve DataCite metadata or PI
D metadata in general\, this session will present a concrete path forward\
, showing examples of metadata enrichment processes and tools developed th
 rough the collaboration.
