2026-10-28 , Naturalis 02

Commercial publishers usually do not include some metadata when they register DOIs.
This talk want to show you a project devoted to measure this issue, detailing which open sources and techniques will be used to collect data and presenting some first results

The project presented in the talk wants to define a set of commercial publishers, a set of relevant metadata (e.g. affiliations), and a set of indicators (e.g. type of publication, if they are open access or not); then define open data sources (e.g. crossref participation reports, OpenAlex, OpenAIRE) and techniques (use of API, scripts) to find out quantitative and qualitative dimensions of the issue.
Presentation will include project design, examples, API calls and scripts developed.
