DESCRIPTION:**B2INST** is a Persistent Identifier (PID) service that is des
 igned to persistently register\, describe and reference instruments and eq
 uipment. By **uniquely identifying instruments\, describing them with meta
 data and ensuring they are reliably citable**\, B2INST aims to address gap
 s in research data management and enhance the reproducibility of scientifi
 c results.\n\nB2INST provides unique\, stable\, globally resolvable identi
 fiers for scientific instruments and research equipment. This allows resea
 rchers to unambiguously reference and cite the instruments used in their r
 esearch\, thereby promoting transparency\, reproducibility\, and collabora
 tion. Assigning a persistent identifier to each instrument can also suppor
 t tracking of instrument usage.\n\nThe metadata management uses the RDA-en
 dorsed **PIDINST metadata schema** to capture details such as the instrume
 nt's _name_\, _model_\, _owner_ and _manufacturer_. This provides the basi
 s for standardised information exchange.\n\nAdditionally\, the **community
  features** allow research communities to _extend metadata schemas_\, impl
 ement _moderation_ workflows\, and apply their own _branding_.
