Jan is a PhD student at Utrecht University, working on human factors in organizational security. At university Jan co-teaches research methods and information security. He is a part of the ACCSS working group on Human Factors in Cyber Security and has talked about his research at conferences like ICT.open and SOUPS. Jan was invited speaker at the NCSC.

Shadow IT, the use of unauthorized IT in the workplace, is widespread across organizations and takes many forms. While it offers flexibility and helps people get their work done, it also creates new attack vectors and challenges for cybersecurity management. In this talk, we combine results from several research studies to better understand and address these risks.
