Are you facing the challenge of integrating AI models into education? Or trying to deal with the risks of AI? We have seen impressive improvements in AI technology in the last few years, that also impact education. Various initiatives across Europe are aiming to provide solutions for accessing GenAI and using the technology for solving educational problems.
In this session, we will look at European innovation with and around generative AI and how different educational futures are envisioned. We will dive into the challenges faced, lessons learned and explore what role European collaboration can play. You will learn from experiences in the Netherlands, Germany, Finland and the United Kingdom, and gain an overview on the current developments on GenAI for education in Europe.
With Artificial Intelligence (AI) being at the core of discussions in higher education, numerous institutions face the question of how to provide access to AI models for their staff and students, integrate them into their core processes and building towards a new future of education. In this panel session, we look beyond the Netherlands and discuss perspectives from European initiatives around AI. We will cover the following key questions:
- What role does AI and data play in the future of education?
- How are we developing and organizing AI and data infrastructure to support education?
- What policies, regulations, and evaluations are needed to ensure responsible innovation and effective implementation of AI and data in education, and how can we facilitate collaboration among national and international stakeholders?

The panel discussion will give you an overview of different approaches and initiatives in Europe. We will dive into concrete examples, such as EduGenAI (a chatbot developed for Dutch higher education and its underlying AI hub), hear visions of the future from the Hochschulforum Digitalisierung in Germany and discover how Jisc in the UK and Digivisio in Finland are facilitating the transformation into the age of AI. The focus of the panel session is on sharing perspectives and experiences related to the challenges mentioned. We will facilitate a discussion to explore common insights and opportunities for collaboration around a GenAI infrastructure and ecosystem.
Attend this session and benefit from an overview of different approaches to providing GenAI infrastructure in education, visions on the future of education, and lessons learned in different contexts. Learn from international experiences and improve your own initiatives. Specifically, you will get:
- an understanding of different approaches to integrating GenAI in higher education across Europe;
- an identification of common challenges and sharing of best practices from various stakeholders;
- an exploration of how European collaboration can enhance AI innovation in education.
