Based on sector research and community diagloue since 2022, Jisc has produced a body of work focussing on post pandemic approaches to curriculum and learning design, primarily in the context of higher education. The work has produced original research, a number of reports and a set of openly available resources to support the development of approaches to curriculum and learning design at both strategic and programme levels. (https://www.jisc.ac.uk/guides/beyond-blended-rethinking-curriculum-and-learning-design) For the past 2 years, Jisc has supported 17 institutions to pilot the resources within their own institutional contexts and priorities. Supporting collaborative practice has been an integral value of this work.
The session will begin with an overview of the Beyond Blended resources and how they have been used to support staff with their curriculum design, particularly when faced with the potential disruption by AI. This will then be followed by an opportunity for delegates to participate in activities using the openly licensed resources and how they may use and adapt the resources to support their practice.
Key issues to be addressed in this session include:
• Supporting staff and students to design curricular in response to changing student expectations and the challenges and opportunities AI presents
• Purposefully designed pedagogical interventions for different modes of participation
• Developing and enhancing institutional design frameworks and principles

• Session introduction: overview of the Beyond Blended resources, and how universities are using the resources to support staff with their design practices(15 mins)
• Hands on activities - opportunities for participants to use selected resources and to discuss how they may be used and adapted to support their own practice (25 mins)

An understanding of how to better design learning for their students in relation to their different modes of participation in their learning and how the beyond blended resources may help .
Sarah Knight is director of digital leadership transformation in tertiary education at Jisc (UK). Her team supports universities and colleges with their digital transformation. This includes working with senior leaders to support their use of Jisc’s framework and maturity model for digital transformation in higher education. Sarah has been working with Jisc for over 22 years and has led several large national transformation programmes.
