Submit your proposal for the SURF Research Day 2026
We warmly invite you to submit proposals for presentations, discussions and workshops. Together we will create a program that inspires, challenges and connects.
The theme of this year is: Connecting minds. By bringing minds together, we create space for new insights, unexpected connections and outcomes that go beyond what we could achieve alone — turning collaboration into something greater than the sum of its parts. Keep this in mind while shaping your session text.
You can choose from these formats:
● An (interactive) presentation of 30 minutes: perfect for sharing a case, a success story or lessons learned form a failure.
● Workshop of 45 minutes: get hands-on and immerse yourself in a specific theme with others. E.g. play a game, draft a paper together or give a hands-on training/tutorial.
● Open discussion: an informal discussion in which you can explore common issues and shared interests. To be decided if this will be planned for 30 or 45 minutes.
● Demo or poster to be shown in the catering area during the breaks: an innovative app, tool or poster that will inspire our visitors.
For the question: 'What is the nature of your session' you can choose from:
● Technical: every service, tool or infrastructure that is used by or for researchers and/or research supporters.
● Technology impact: impact of (emerging) technologies on research support and beyond (e.g. environment, ethical implications, SDGs, etc..
● Policy: how to's to improve research support procedures, processes and/or practices.
● Community: collaboration between researchers and research supporters, networking and community building, knowledge exchange and how to help address future research communities' challenges.
On our website, you will find a short writing guide with instructions on how to write a good concrete session text and title. Read this carefully so the reviewing team, but especially your listeners, know what to expect and what will be the key takeaways from your session.
If your proposal is selected for the SURF Research Day, we will contact you in the last week of March.
Do you have any questions? Feel free to contact us via researchday@surf.nl.
We look forward to your proposal and your contribution to this leading SURF event!
