FAIR Research Data Management - Training Materials Ready for Reuse!
2026-05-19 , Showroom

In this poster you will explore how you can reuse the FAIR RDM Training Materials that were developed as part of the EU-funded PATTERN project, in your own training activities'. The materials are suited for students and researchers and consist of five modules covering FAIR RDM at Beginner and Intermediate Levels.

  • Module 1: Introducing FAIR, Open Data and RDM
  • Module 2: How to create a Data Management Plan
  • Module 3: Metadata and File Formats
  • Module 4: Persistent Identifiers, Trusted Repositories and Semantic Artefacts
  • Module 5: Data Discovery, Copyright, Licensing and GDPR

The materials are applicable to a wide range of disciplines, where learners can choose from a set of discipline specific Cases Studies to apply their new knowledge during each of the modules (Project Based Learning) .

Training materials are available as slide decks, exercises and sessions plans (fully customizable) and as e-learning modules on OpenPLATO. These materials have been co-developed and piloted by 14 partner organizations in Europe, with high rates of learner satisfaction.

You will learn to browse through the available FAIR RDM Training Materials and get some hands-on experience with exercises:

  • Assessing the FAIRness of datasets (manually and automated)
  • Depositing data in the Dataverse environment
  • How to Read a Readme-file

Note FAIR RDM is but one of eight topics covered in the PATTERN Project. As a bonus, you will see what else PATTERN has in store.
