International courses: students and lecturers collaborate online using COIL
12-11-2024 , Spinoza foyer

Imagine you are a lecturer and you would like to organise an international online course together with your colleagues abroad; how do you set this up? What are important aspects to make this course a success? And what platform(s) would work well for this international course?

An ICT in Education expert, Internationalisation Coordinator, and an academic from the Nijmegen School of Management will show you what a COIL is and how to implement it yourself, based on one of the COIL modules currently running at Radboud University during this academic year.

In this interactive presentation, our interdisciplinary team, consisting of an ICT in Education expert, an Internationalisation Coordinator, and an academic lecturer from the Nijmegen School of Management at Radboud University, will show you how we have organized online international courses, also known as COIL-projects (COIL = Collaborative Online International Learning, also known as VIS = Virtuele Internationale Samenwerking) within our faculty.

To get these international courses up and running, we are working together in a multidisciplinary team to ensure we look at all the different perspectives: academic lecturers, students, International Office Staff and ICT in Education Staff.

During this presentation, we will show you all these perspectives and how we got it all organised at the faculty Nijmegen School of Management at the Radboud University.

We will use one example of a COIL-project that is running this academic year as well which will enable us to provide lots of practical tips and tricks on how to go about setting up an international collaboration in an international course.

We are striving for an interactive session in which there is room for questions and in which we can share perspectives on COIL projects, and exchange ideas to improve future courses.
